it might be an old, failed attempt at a No Doubt-lookalike punk-gone-mainstream-with-female-singer almost-made-it-hit, but I still feel good hearing Artificial Joy Club's lyrical whimsies in Sick & Beautiful.

that, coupled with two or three extremely catchy riffs, and a sexy "I'm crazy, but I look good" video sold me to this song. but it's entirely possible to tire of it before having listened it through. beware.

I'd recommend seeking out the video, first and foremost. I think AJC made this thing in '98.

d'ya know if I got it on one of your CDs, Simon? they're all over my desk, and I can't find it on any of those disks I've, uh, found. =)

the hat shop called me up again.

I didn't mention it here before, but it appears Stetson has cancelled the line of Dart model hats. fuck that.

so the kind people at the shop have located and reserved a "most similar" model for me. I'm to take a look at it shortly.

but I need to brew myself some coffee first.
They don't eat, don't sleep
They don't feed, they don't seethe
Bare their gums when they moan and squeak
Lick the dirt off a larger one's feet
They don't push, don't crowd
Congregate until they're much too loud
Fuck to procreate till they are dead
Drink the blood of their so called best friend

oh my gods. I said it out loud, without wanting to, or even thinking first.

bad omen. worse karma.

but if it was that long into the forefront of my subconscious, it's bound to surface again. it's no good dismissing it, far less denying it.

I feel bad.
only good thing about it is that I never do this in front of other people.

well.

I toyed with the idea of reading Le Historie de la Magie in the original French. yeah, right. look at my state of mind right now.

saw Hickman's relaying of the press statement last night. the Mort phoned me this afternoon as I was catching the tram to the hat shop. he was very excited, and managed to get me excited as well. DL back to its core, for sure. (well, for those of us who kinda got used to 5A and TotL, this would normally be a situation begging for concern and reservation. but the Mort warmed me to the idea, especially as he informed me of the dreams TRH had for the setting.)

got a new Stetson. softer. wider brim. flat top, fortunately. "crushable", gods be thanked.

swooped inside Avalon while talking to the Mort on the phone. Narrenschiff made me stay and wait for him, he was supposed to meet Lena at Elm for their rehearsal, but she was already on her way and we ended up going to the Barcelona winter garden café while waiting for his bus. I'm sorry I probably appeared very disattached to him, as we discussed the game last Monday. oh well. ran into Arcticon on my way from there, his nose into his history lecture book. hope he fares well on his test tomorrow. met Kathulu shortly thereafter at the bus terminal.

so. yeah, I have a life.

the game on Monday deserves mention. at times genuinely horrific. Stéphan impressed me with his play. Unknown Armies is a very likeable system, from what little I've seen of it. or maybe the loose-ended scenario we played required us to roleplay intensively (out of the One Shots collection, this was named "...And I Feel Fine". but I didn't learn it was until well after the session.)

bought a bunch of DL titles today. along with the novel I bought on Monday, this makes my to-be-read-shelf even heavier. when will I ever learn? =)
